Solid directorial and writing debut from Pete Williams, will be seated for when his next film releases. Didn’t exactly enjoy the main character Brock, just felt very boring couldn’t exactly get attached to him but during the Q&A after the film, Pete explained that’s how he was directed to act and know it makes a bit more sense for myself.
Did enjoy the start of the film with the TV playing the old Holden ads in the factory, loved the juxtaposition between the two. Cinematography and editing were solid, but IMO it felt like during flashbacks, they were dumbed down by the filters put over them like the audience wouldn’t be able to put 2 and 2 together.
Overall, I enjoyed how local the film is and how it is obviously a passion project from Pete Williams about his home town of Elizabeth. Solid debut with some issues that weren’t too negative on the film but I will be seated for his next film.
