My third Szulkin, now I’m just waiting for my O-Bi, O-Ba: The End of Civilisation blu ray! I did very much enjoy this one, even though it’s definitely Szulkin’s most quiet film, it is still intensely weird and very abstract in a good way. The main idea of this film was the concept of identity, the meaning of being a person and what makes you a person. Is being an individual determined by the state or by you? Is there such thing as an individual? It’s definitely the most philosophical and introspective of Szulkin’s work, which was quite interesting to dive into. I really liked the whole concept Szulkin was pushing about identity, he did in a very bizarre but relatively easy to grasp way. The visuals in this film were super grimy and very green, with a lot of desolate and distant urban environments; the film having a pretty small cast helped with this strange atmosphere. Overall a really good and very uneasy film, I’m so excited for O-Bi, O-ba.

I feel that this part of Piotr Szulkin's asocial fiction Tetralogy had a better experience overall than O-bi O-ba (for me).

It's really poetic and mystical all the Way through and almost had the same poetic tools as Andrej Tarkovsky's.
Not that these two have that much in similarity because that would be a lie. Unfortunately I'm not Polish but it certainly would have been a better watch. I tried to quickly look up the historical context of the film but that's not enough. I think the viewer has to experience the same pressure that a normal Polish citizen had at that time due to certain specific/personal references throughout the film that flew by a unexperienced viewer (Such as myself).

I really like how different every tone in his film, this one was way more gritty for me because of the greenish/yellowish tones. I hope Piotr Szulkin will use this method of atmosphere im his later work of the Tetralogy.
