Filmed by Jonas Mekas from the 44th floor of the Time-Life Building, “Empire” explores the passage of time without the use of characters or a traditional narrative. The film, that consists of one stationary shot of the Empire State Building, was made from standard 1,200-foot rolls of 16mm film with a more than eight-hour runtime.

Absolutely pointless. It's even worse when you think that this was filmed in 1964 and not the 1870s when this type of "film" was popular, just some scenery slightly changing. A lot of films before this like the "transit of Venus" I kinda can forgive for the experimentation of film but this is just Worthless trash that should be rated a ½ to everyone who rates it.

Ill be honest i didnt watch the whole 8 hours infact i got bored after about 10 minutes, i feel like this is really just to test your attention span.

Honestly I just watched it to say I've watched it.
I like the empire state building, but not enough to watch it for 8 hours. It's a good slow statement piece, could probably fall asleep to it since it's just that pleasant.
I liked this part where it looked like two planes kissed. That is yaoi.
