The Bourne Snoozefest
Messy, undercooked, and largely internally inconsistent.
I hate to view these types of movies through a realism lens. I’m usually Team Suspend Disbelief, but there is just no way that any of the characters in this movie have the power/capabilities to do the things they do but can’t do other seemingly easier things. Plot devices and technology are introduced that if used earlier would be entirely plot breaking. Even then none of the shit they use is even cool. Literally hack the mainframe, decode the firewall, bug the motherboard buzzword storm for 2 hours.
Introduces far too many parties of interest far too quickly with little exposition or buildup behind them. Actually a TV season worth of plot in 2 (longgg hours) Rami Malek and Larry Fishburne really save this from being “direct to Netflix watch while you’re home to visit mom and dad” and even then their relationship is criminally underdeveloped. Nice to see Mr. Malek staying soundly inside of his comfort zone, cmon dude this is just Mr. Robot the movie.
