It's hard to discuss Insiang because the depictions of brutality, poverty, and violence are so vivid that it seems improper to even call it a film. It's equivalent to seeing someone else's life through an open window, you’re unable to turn away or stop it, you’re sympathising with Insiang, you want to help her but you physically can’t.
