A harsh reminder to audiences that Cameron Diaz can't act! I had heard that this was considered to be Ridley's ode to Tony (rip 🕊️), and I can understand this from a color choice and subject matter stand point, but thematically, I think I get more out of Tony's work emotionally than I did here. The story was a bit all over the place, and I felt weird knowing that a horny old man was conducting the decisions being made by the characters. Javier and Brad were great pieces of the story, and the ending really bummed me out because of their eventual fates! I'm glad I watched, as I love both of the Scott brothers' work, but I think i would rather take in either of the pairs' pure vision of a film than this composite. It kept pulling me out of the movie to think about how Tony influenced the choices being made and how the project only really came into being as a result of losing him. I recommend as a thought experiment, if nothing else.
