While I appreciate the snapshots of life portrayed, there doesn’t seem to be a whole lot of connective tissue to bind them together. Consequently, the film can never become more than exactly what we see. That’s not to say it isn’t valuable but it doesn’t carry a greater impact. I very much liked the rooftop sunrise scene. It’s the one time I felt we got enough time with the characters to empathise. There is also an interesting scene where one human addresses the director directly about how effective the film may actually be. I agree with what that character says and think it affirms the lack of impact the movie has instead of reenforcing the impact like I think the director might be intending.
