genuinely a beautiful movie and so fun and very sweet. It’s genre bending. 1st half = zombie, 2nd half is more cerebral, and it has some goofy moments, which I honestly quite liked. Really well done.

Ralph Fiennes is orange. For a guy who doesn’t like zombie movies it wasn’t bad. A lot of build up for a very quick resolution, the first half of the movie should’ve been 15 minutes or the movie should’ve been 30 minutes longer. Felt a lot like setup for a movie people didn’t know about?

Man I really wanted to like this movie, I loved the first half of it but the second half got a little weird with the whole baby thing and the mom and stuff. The cinematography was Grade A, on point. Really cool stuff especially in the beginning when you see the zombies in the dark. Cool as fuck, also the alphas were pretty cool, naked but cool. The trophy hunting aspect of them was dope. My biggest problem with this flick is the fucking ending, like what the fuck was that ninja power rangersesk bullshit that I just watched. If they had left that out, this movie would have been much higher than it is. Super weird and out of place, really actually ruined a good chunk of it for me. I could’ve gotten past the zombie baby but the track suit zombie killing ninja weirdos was way over the top for me, pass.

I’m very eager to see the next one, as the new world they’ve created feels like the most enticing open-world video game waiting to be explored. This also spoke to me as a big fan of skulls.

28 Years Later is a dizzying barrage of intercalated action sequences and grade-A tension. But it is also thematically complex in a way we haven’t seen since the first installment. Jamie and Spike’s relationship is a wonderful vehicle to explore the themes of parenthood, and the role of caretaking and protectorship. Garland really nails it here, with each additional character feeling well thought out and purposeful.

This thing just fires on all cylinders. That first act is mind-bogglingly good holy shit, my heart has not raced like that in a long time. The development into the second half and the ending isn’t quite as polished or interesting but still offers so much in terms of heart and vision. This could be my favorite in the series thus far.

I will not comment on Danny Boyle’s direction as there is nothing to be said. The man is a legend and a master at what he does. The shots are stunning and original.
