Had to check this one off of my TCM list before it left HBO, and it definitely feels like I've checked a box! Did not reach the heights of Casablanca or the Maltese Falcon, but Bogart is kind of like Jason Statham in that you can kind of drop him anywhere and know exactly what you're going to get. I could see how the plot was going to go from the opening 10 minutes, but it was interesting to look at the set design and blocking to compare against our contemporary directing styles. Could have skipped this one and not missed out, but not mad at the run time, and it's always fun to look back in time.
