Since when are you afraid of the dark?> I don't like the dark here, it keeps eating my pencils.Got the creepiness right i guess. The ending's the best part of the movie and that's it. Also why do they even leave Paul alone so much telling him to go upstairs every single time? Why does the mom ignore all the supernatural shit going on in the house like it's nothing lmao

88 minutes of slop.
88 minutes of a mess, I’ve just finished watching this and I’m honestly so confused as to what I just watched?
Shocking shocking shocking. Avoid if you can

I feel like someone got drunk with their friends one night and pitched this vaguely interesting concept. And everyone else was so drunk that they told them to make a movie. And that’s this movie
I watched both the theatrical version and the director’s cut in quick succession because the theatrical one was so weird and confusing. The director’s cut is better, clarifying character motivations and plot stuff and strengthening the bond between Anna Paquin’s character and her boyfriend(?). I highly recommend watching that version if you watch this at all. But overall, neither cut is satisfying.
The story just isn’t well-written or nuanced enough to make you care about what’s happening. Some of the characters are so oblivious that it’s hard to watch. And it seems like they had no money for a stunt coordinator because people never get attacked, spooky shit just moves around and then someone turns out the lights and you hear screaming. The creators didn’t even seem to know how to do transitions, so they put title cards between scenes?? It is bad.
If you really want to watch a movie that will have you asking,”Why is there a naked old woman crawling on the ceiling?” then you can watch this, I guess, but don’t expect any answers to any of your questions.
