Crazy that Vincent Hanna moved to New York and became mayor after he killed renown bank robber Neil McCualey on the job and his step daughter attempted suicide in LA... Lol Al definitely brought a bit of the same mannerisms to this role that he did in Heat, and I couldn't help but compare the performances within their contexts and think that this one was a bit beyond the realm of reality. This isn't a con for me, but I can see why this would be memed on. Really loved the camera moves throughout, and Jerry Goldsmith's kickass soundtrack rips from the second the movie starts! Bridget Fonda and John Cussack are fine together, but that is definitely colored by my feelings about ol' JC. I had only seen Bridget in Jackie Brown, so I was excited to see what else she had up her sleeve, and thought she did a great job! The fucking Danny Aiello suicide, though..... That one hurt. I know he's a mobster in the movie, but the sweetness between him and his wife, and the little bird, Chester, did so much leg work in making me empathize with him. The plot was fun to follow, even if it is a bit up its own ass with the importance of all of these silent players within the world of politics and the ending was pretty anti-climactix, but I still had a good time! Recommend if you like legal thrillers, John Cussack star-vehicles, or have the same craving for Pachenis that I have.
