Overall a good remake - there is definitely something interesting in Moana’s journey. Seeing rock in live action is fun. The overt use of CGI is very noticeable - should have shot on location as much as possible. In general I wish this movie was a bit more raw rather than “Disney polished”.

I have nothing against live action remakes, I think there's a market for them, however, when the movie is a frame by frame recreation that decides to purposefully emulate the animated feel of the original, we need to ask ourselves, was it really necessary?
