The twist ending for Hide and Seek was disappointing, and without it, the story is even worse, making it even more subpar. The ending was predictable, and it was trying too hard for an unearned "gotcha" moment. With such a talented cast, it's a real shame it went to waste here. And it's through this film that I learned there is an award called "MTV Movie Award for Best Frightened Performance," which is laughably ridiculous for some reason. The film is also just really poorly paced. I would like to actually see a horror film that actually explores DID with nuance rather than just a disappointing plot twist. Even though De Niro is considered a master at his craft, he made this film feel even more charmless, and was miscast. There are also plot holes. And for a film with five different endings, they really picked the worst one, huh? Overall, this is a joyless, flat, illogical, poorly paced, predictable, blah blah blah, the film sucks, that's all you need to know, bye.
