Crime thriller that doesn't really seem to have been worked out to the bone.
Boneyard is a new crime thriller directed, co-written and produced by Asif Akbar, director of The Commando.
Police Chief Carter (50 Cent) is working on the mystery of a serial killer who left behind the remains of eleven female bodies. During the investigation, he crosses paths with FBI agent Petrovick (Mel Gibson). Together they become entangled in a complicated web with many possible suspects, including even possible corrupt officers.
This film is inspired by true events of a murderer who left bones as traces. In addition to the investigation of these murder cases, the film also tells the story of possible corruption within the police. By mixing up these stories, they have made it more difficult to continue to follow the film properly. Various officers try to unmask the same perpetrator themselves. The officers also know about the corruption and that they cannot always trust other officers. As a viewer, you only know more and better which officers can or cannot be trusted, because you get a clearer picture of what they are doing. This way you can get ahead of the case, which can make the underlying investigation of the agents seem a bit long-winded or messy.
Furthermore, the film is also reminiscent of similar and even better crime thrillers that tell similar stories, but managed to do this a bit better.
The cast delivers decent acting, but this is not their best work either. They have acted better in other films. With a more clearly developed script, the film itself and the acting could have been better.
