This is a movie that I do always try to like more, but find myself never really being able to. On paper there’s some interesting stuff here like the setting and having an older Andy but in execution it’s unfortunately just pretty boring. It sort of feels like it is trying to recapture some of the magic of Child’s Play 2, but ends up feeling derivative and uninteresting. The military setting never really gets used to its full potential with the kills and eventually just gets deserted at the final act. Andy is a lot less compelling when he’s more of a generic teenage character that feels reverted from how strong he left the previous movie. The kills themselves I think are pretty lacking again with how much fun you could have had with the setting. The main shining light for this movie is Chucky himself with his continuing personality and one liners, he’s the only reason I ever really wanna come back to this one. Such a disappointing follow up to the second film.
