Happy January! Finally decided to kick off the new year by watching one underrated film 🫶🏻🫶🏻honestly i’m really grateful this movie exists. pfftt~ i’m still confused why many people gave this low ratings and negative reviews, ’cause when you look at it, the plot is good and surprisingly educational
this movie isn’t just about two teenagers driven by desire or teenage pregnancy—it goes much deeper than that, especially when it comes to internal struggles and family upbringing
(from American parenting culture). and what i loved most was
Paul Dano’s character Matt Freeman, the way he takes responsibility for his actions and how genuinely ready he’s to become a father, despite his young age and innocent personality. and for the character who played by
Katie Stuart, Francesca, i’d say from the scene she talks about her life background, she isn’t innocent as she seems and has a rather strong desire toward men lmao
i was very satisfied with the ending, as
Paul Dano’s character manages to fulfill his responsibility as a father, even while knowing the consequences of having a child out of wedlock. it feels quite relatable to what happens around me—many young couples end up getting married early because of an unplanned pregnancy. and for now, what we can take away from this is the importance of being self-aware and mindful of our social circles, so we can avoid unwanted situations> *P.S. this movie really reminded me of the Indonesian movie
Dua Garis Biru (eng: Two Blue Stripes), and i can’t imagine what would happen if something like this occurred in an Asian parenting/family. i’m pretty sure it wouldn’t just be brooms and mops flying around* 😭🤣
