Patton: Now I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.
While not always my cup of tea, George C. Scott carries this nearly 3 hour film on his pack and makes things move swiftly.

I don’t know how I originally rated this 4.5 stars. George C. Scott is excellent in this, but it’s really a film you see once or twice then kind of scuffle off and don’t really want to see again.

The battle sequences and the lead performance are magnificent. However, I’m sort of unclear what Patton did for the ware other than sort of meander around Europe and fight random battles.
