The Alamo
"mostly is the people davy, they got... this is kinda hard to explain, they got courage, they got dignity, they ain't afraid to die, what seems most importantly to me is they ain't afraid to live"

The Alamo
This movie is a fine telling of the story it is named for. The characters are for the most part fine, with not much exceptional except maybe Richard Widmark’s Bowie. Everyone is fine, along with a fine look of the film. The film does suffer from a very long 2 1/2 plus run time, while finding a hard time showing much time of fighting.

The Alamo
Barely any thrill in this epic. Weak performances, mediocre cinematography and terrible pacing make this movie very unexciting. It's got some nice mise en scene and even some fine music choices but, for a majority of it, I was bored throughout. It's shocking to see this took up the 5th Best Picture slot the year "Psycho" was released. Thankfully, Hitchcock took Wayne's place in the Best Director race.
