i was so confused by the timeline that i only fully got it in the third act (i'm that fucking dumb 😭). this is only my second ducournau film after titane, so i went in expecting something just as loud and sensational.
but alpha isn't about that and once everything clicked, it hit me way harder than i expected.
i definitely need to rewatch this in a better headspace and with better subtitle translations lol

Titane es una de mis películas preferidas de la década y Alpha es una de mis mayores decepciones de la década. Su historia tiene una base sólida, pero cuando parece coger ritmo se termina y su alegoría al sida está completamente desaprovechada.
Si uno analiza los otros dos trabajos de Ducournau se da cuenta que sabe manejar un excelente body horror y que tiene buen ojo para los needle drops. Por esto mismo, cuando sales de Alpha habiendo visto cero momentos gráficos memorables y con la sensación de que ha desperdiciado la música de ¡Portishead! y ¡¡¡Tame Impala!!! uno se desilusiona bastante.
