I watched this right after waking up, and it’s been on my mind all day. I’ve felt so homesick for Pakistan this past week, and seeing her take everything in while they drove home from the airport made me so envious. The movie is beautiful, and it captures the relationship between Muslim moms and their daughters so perfectly that it made me wonder if my own mom sees me that way too. I’ve had the same kind of conversation Azra and her mother have in their first phone call, and i couldn’t help but laugh at how accurate it was. But honestly, when the movie ended, I felt a bit guilty for relating to Azra so much or maybe it’s just November that’s creeping up on me.
