I can’t believe that I have to live in the reality where the director of movies like Apocalypto, Braveheart and The Passion of the Christ makes movies as uninspired and creatively bankrupt as this one. I can’t deny that it was at least kind of fun to watch, but I despise everything it stands for. The man behind visual epics and the grandiose sets of Apocalypto and The Passion of the Christ opens his new movie with an AI shot of a diner and the rest of the movie has to be carried by a performance from Mark Wahlberg who plays a grossly comically evil bad guy who somehow manages to outsmart the heroes time and time again, despite using ordinary and not even that intelligent methods right under the main characters noses.
