Why isn’t this in more theaters??!!!
quite possibly the best coming of age film i’ve ever seen. this was the most beautifully shot film i’ve seen in a couple years and reminded me how powerful this medium can be. the way the camera effortlessly moved with the characters and conveyed their feelings simply through motion was breathtaking. not to mention the entire thing was shot on film which emphasized the richness of the naturalistic colors and the grittiness of the world. barry keoghan continues to surprise me as an actor because in this he was both erratic and challenging but ultimately charming which is an impressive range for a supporting role. but by far the standout was the actress who played bailey who took up the majority of the screen time. this is her story and the range but also restraint she shows blew me away. this film is devastating and hard to get through but ultimately hopeful. the overall composition of it, the cinematography the acting, the score, the symbolism, will keep me thinking about it for days to come.
