I honestly hoped I’d like this film more since it had young Matthew Modine and Nic Cage. They were both really good, but I thought the film overall was just okay, nothing special.

Love love love this weird movie where Nicolas is so loveable, charming and dorky. I don’t really know what to make of the bird stuff, I think it’s about being gay and trapped within yourself, afraid to express yourself for fear of judgement. And flying represents self expression and freedom, that’s why birdy is so obsessed with flying. Al is always saying it’s dangerous, it’s not normal, trying to get him to go out with women. Idk. Really great Cage performance especially since he’s only 21 in this
