Guy Luthan, a British doctor working at a hospital in New York, starts making unwelcome enquiries when the body of a man who died in his emergency room disappears. After the trail leads Luthan to the door of an eminent surgeon at the hospital, Luthan soon finds himself in extreme danger people who want the hospital's secret to remain undiscovered.

this movie was just so lost on what it wanted to be and it really shows in the final product. not a bad premise with people covering up deaths in a hospital or trying to run experiments on people or having an underground society of people but combining all three in this fashion was a big miss.
we don’t ever find anything out about our antagonist really we meet him at first and then it’s just him doing surgery like he couldn’t seem less evil at that point. then in the other front guy is just being met by the weirdest things and you’d really have to believe him at some point. bodies going missing and him having a call with someone who doesn’t exist and then their records being deleted the same day.
i’d say hugh grant probably wasn’t the right fit for this role i get them going for a fish out of water vibe but i think a hard nosed doctor would’ve been a more exciting watch. then we have the whole sarah jessica parker character who is his mate but actually part of the company taking him down but then backflips for what seems to be no reason not to mention her reason for helping these people.
the only really believable aspect of this is desperate people with disabled relatives being conned into helping out. but other than that it’s a hyperbolic telling of medical science mixed in with like a secret society of sorts.

love me some 90s thrillers, running around and discovering the underground secrets of new york city, and feeding us some utilitarian food for thought that i immediately dismiss as immoral but still find incredibly interesting to think about
