This is such a weird little film. It’s basically the kind of movie Wes Anderson would make had he made movies in the 80s. I definitely think it was a bit ahead of its time and would probably be an art house darling had it been made today. Jodie Foster is fantastic (and dreamy as is her co-star Rob Lowe) in this, as usual. In fact, most of the cast is good. It’s just kind of bananas what happens to this family. I was somewhat shocked by the depiction of LGBT issues in this movie as well, in a good way. I think this movie might just be a hidden gem, ahead of its time, important film.
