Operation Taco Gary’s is kind of like Bugonia but re-framed as an SNL movie. But one of the good ones!
Luke (Dustin Milligan) is all set to move to Ottawa to take-up his dream job as a palaeontologist, a dream which becomes a little side-tracked when his conspiracy theory nut brother Danny (Simon Rex) shows up, and then A LOT side tracked when Danny, along with ‘Badger’ Allison (Brenda Song) and arms dealer/leg sweep specialist Klyle (Tony Cavalero) join the quest. And just what is the quest? Well that would spoil the fun, but let’s just say you might want to rethink your stance of Jason Biggs being a decent guy…
The directorial debut of Mikey K is comedically cathartic for anyone who has an anti-vaxxer, flat-earther or pizza-gater in their life. Or even just a conservative - those guys are pretty delusional too. Luke is surrounded by folk that seem like everyone ordinary people, and THEN the conspiracy talk happens.
Simon Rex is able to break through the tinfoil kookiness with white trash charm, Brenda Song beings enthusiasm via way of Walmart Tomb Raider and Tony Calvero owns every moment he is on screen, especially when applying his expertise at bullet removal. Hanging over everything is the wisdom of the John Galt like sage, Todd Simmons.
