Watched with a friend.
The kind of movie that's just pretty funny if you're a little into 80s action/adventure and sci-fi flicks, and utterly fucking hysterical if you've spent your live delving into pulp heroes and pulp science fiction.
We used to make proper box-office disasters, man.
"Shut up, Big-booty, you coward!"

It took me until about halfway through this movie that I realised its purpose as a parody of the heroic pulp archetype. This redeemed it a little for me but couldn’t save it too much. I thought TAOBBAT8thD was very imaginative and it was arguably a fun time in moments. The special effects were really great for its time and rivalled Star Wars. But being a riff off of cheap masculine action heroes, the movie makes great efforts to be completely shallow and prioritise action, again — it works in some places, and doesn’t in lots of others. Overall I was bored with an emerging headache.
