man, why you gotta get all metaphysical?

i was a bit scared because this movie had a man named "jimmy bones" but I LOVED THIS!!! the spiritual successor to candyman in almost all ways, but it's the fun younger brother who decides to spew maggots everywhere. why did the dog spew maggots everywhere. how did they do that

i got a natural high. a SUPERNATURAL high.

You can really tell Dickersons love for the horror genre with this and when you put it in context with the slop that was coming out in the early 2000s with horror it’s really amazing that this film got made (though its weaknesses come from studio cuts). I think this film was incredibly ahead of its time, I’d love to see this get a directors cut one day so it can be the best that it can be, I think if Dickerson was able to completely execute his vision here it would be regarded as a very early entry into ‘elevated horror’

There’s also some amazing practical effects here that are very reminiscent of the work in Hellraiser

Snoop Dogg is genuinely so much fun and i can tell he’s enjoying himself. A very campy and cheesy black horror movie and more fun than expected. The set design is genuinely great, the body horror and lovecraftian nightmare of it all is a delight, both funny and scary. The nightclub rocks and has all the energy. The story itself is below average and the characters mostly aren’t interesting but the overall vibe and fun of it all are too much to not have a good time.
