What a delightful surprise!
The few trailers I had seen leading up to this left me with a tame but lingering excitement. Something about Will Arnett always draws you in. Regardless I didn’t have any expectations since this hasn’t been heavily marketed and there’s minimal buzz going around as far as I know.
The movie is extremely well written. Bradley Cooper has a way of writing extremely relatable characters who you can connect with within a few moments. His character especially was exceptional and he killed the part.
Will Arnett was fucking hilarious and his chemistry with Laura Dern was palpable. The entire movie feels so raw and gritty but their relationship has this pure nature to it that sells itself so well through its humor and humility through the screen.
On the topic of the movie feeling raw, Bradley Cooper captures the feelings of NYC life and NYC Metropolitan Area suburban life exceptionally well. As my fans know, I am an NYC snob, especially when it is a focal point to the story. Given that he lives here, he captures what it is like across different neighborhoods, lifestyles, and experiences. Kudos to you Mr. Cooper.
