There are honestly only two things I liked about Halloween: Resurrection. The first is Busta Rhymes as Freddie — he’s the only reason I didn’t give this movie a one-star rating. He’s hilarious from start to finish, and that scene where he uses martial arts to kick Michael Myers out of a window is so ridiculous that it’s actually amazing. The second thing I liked was the whole camcorder footage concept. I thought it was a cool idea that gave me Scream 4 vibes, which I really enjoyed. It’s one of the only creative things this movie had going for it.
Other than that, this movie is just terrible. The opening scene might be one of the dumbest things in the entire franchise. Why bring Jamie Lee Curtis back only to kill her off again in the first few minutes? It completely ruins the ending of H20 and makes her character’s return feel pointless. The story is all over the place, Michael Myers looks awful, and whoever decided to make him heavy breathe through half the movie should’ve thought twice — it gets annoying fast.
And I still refuse to believe that whole “Michael switched places with another guy” twist from H20. They said it was some random father of three — but how on earth did that guy survive the crash before Laurie chopped his head off? It makes absolutely no sense and just proves how lazy the writing was for this movie. Resurrection is easily one of the weakest entries in the franchise, saved only by Busta Rhymes and unintentional comedy.
