I know that Stephen Amell was involved with getting Emily Bett Rickards in this film. I just haven’t bothered with researching to prove it.
Also this film has Deborah Ann Woll in it, so we basically had Felicity from Arrow wrestle Karen from Daredevil.
I did appreciate the film for casting some actual female wrestlers then and there.
So yeah I chose this film because it’s about wrestling, and about an era I’m not familiar with. I think it’s terrific how much Millie Burke had elevated the women wrestling scene, as well as female representation in sports and pop culture. But I feel like the movie hinges on those aspects so much that we don’t really dive into her as a person. Like the film in the end pays tribute that she did this as a single mother, but we hardly see much of her balancing her life as a sports entertainer and being a mother (only when her then husband makes a threat towards her in front of her son). Not to mention we don’t properly see why she got into the sport, or how she had found her passion in the first place. Heck, there were times when they had time-skips, and the only way to know was just from how old her son was.
