A bizarro rollercoaster ride that loops through a demented funhouse that all takes place at the world's strangest carnival, orchestrated by the ringmaster of it all, Phil Collins. He is COMMITTED to the bit here as the psychopathic insurance fraud investigator who loves to get off on messing with the people he deals with it, and talk about colourful set design!!! The back half of this is the filmic equivalent of the first Mr. Bungle album. Pure manic circus spazz comedy. Unfortunate that the comedy isn't funny in the slightest and the thriller/horror aspect isn't tense nor exciting. But I can look past that just a tad when you've got such vibrant sets like these for Hugo Weaving and Phil Collins to go bar-for-bar in. If you liked Toys (1992) for its production, come on down to the circus of Frauds and feast upon the eye candy. Just don't expect much in the way of good writing.
