It is, in some ways, astonishing how fully formed the voice arrives. Woody Allen's first outing as director, writer, and actor contains, in embryonic but entirely recognizable form, nearly everything one associates with his subsequent work.
It is not, by any reasonable metric, a polished work. some jokes land better than others. the mockumentary format is deployed with a lot of enthusiasm and you can pretty much tell but it's also its charm its roughness, its sense of a comic intelligence discovering its own capabilities in real time, trying everything to see what sticks. and remarkably, most of it does.
the laughs come steadily, almost relentlessly.

Me he reído mucho, como era de esperar. Igualmente siento que este es un Woody Allen al que en algunas partes se le ven las costuras. La película propone una idea muy buena, pero siento que no se desarrolla y se queda en propuesta. Es por esto que el ritmo a veces se me ha hecho pesado. De todas formas se ven esos gags tan buenos del inicio y para ser su primera película seria, es un trabajazo

What the film lacks in narrative, it makes up for in comedy. While these early Woody Allen slapstick-era films aren’t my favorite works of his, there’s an undeniable charm to them. Take the Money and Run is a more than fitting directorial debut for him, and remains up there with some of his funnier works.
