krystyna is the only reason i liked this film.
i had to watch this for a class and was thrown off by the director being polanski, but my professor is obsessed with this film and i don’t understand why.
the couple decided to invite this hitchhiker that they just met on a boat ride with them? that’s dumb, who would do that? they don’t know anything about him. i get this is supposed to symbolize the husband “showing off” but that’s dumb, truly. the entire film is so predictable too, bickering couple > young handsome man comes into the picture > the wife and him kiss. yawn. just a really lazy way of trying to include the dumb misogynistic symbolism that polanski was trying to convey here.
it’s like i didn’t even hate this film but when you think about it, it makes no sense really. it has some good elements don’t get me wrong but the idea and plot is not it.
