What seemed like romance judging by the title and the cover art is, in reality, a bleak thriller that white people misadventures in foreign countries and opressive goverments. Eventhough the film is respectively good in both genres, there is very few elements that cohesively connects them. As matter of fact, this feels like two different movies paired together.
Even with Sigourney Weaver and Mel Gibson on the top of their game, Linda Hunt's performance as Billy really steals and seals the movie.
