This is what it felt like to be a consultant

Probably could have been a YouTube video, but the story is extremely fascinating. Pretty fucked up and is cool to have both Nasubi and the directors perspective here.

Still probably one of my favourite docos I’ve seen, due to how insane and horrible the story is. It’s also just a really well made doco - especially having the poor guy it happened too and the evil man the created it being interviewed. 

I just watched the second season of jury duty as well and despite it being a very light hearted show, and both of the guys it happened too fully embraced it, it still made me uneasy watching it and those guys just being lied to the whole time.


The two shows aren’t really comparable though as jury duty is not even close to being as messed up as this show was, but both the shows leave me feeling sorry for the guys being the subject and the attention of a show without fully knowing what they were a part of, I’m just glad all of them are good now haha

the walls falling and them waiting for his reaction is so dystopian. like literally he was just their entertainment toy and they were wondering why he wasnt putting on a show for them.

It probably shouldn't have shocked me given the film never hides it, but seeing the emptiness behind a man's eyes when he discovers he's been used and manipulated to the point of being dehumanised for the first time and all the audience can do is laugh hysterically was a sickening display of how we get desensitised to what we see on TV.
But what is most extraordinary about Nasubi's story and what I will take away most from this is how despite being ground down to his lowest by human cruelty, he still used his new status not for personal gain but to evoke pure human kindness because that's somehow still what gives him purpose.
