More moody than I was prepared for. Whenever I think of Sam Peckinpah I always think big shootouts, action and violence. Yes you do get all of that in this movie, and we'll most his other movies, however having seen a few it becomes very apparent that his strong suit is not just the epic and violent action, it's the atmosphere and moodiness he brings. His Westerns have all had more edge to them and his war movie also more somber and dark than most movies from the time. So while the violence plays a part, the overall darker atmosphere of his movies is what really makes him stand out amongst his contemporaries. At least when he is at his best. I'm sure things like convoy will be slightly different...
