The Exorcist III directed and written by William Peter Blatty was my introduction to the Exorcist series and it was a fun time. This film by no means is amazing but it is a great horror film, i went into this film not knowing really anything about it besides the one jump-scare in the hospital since apparently it is “one of the scariest jump-scares in horror” which I don’t agree with at all honestly but it may have just been since i knew it was coming. I loved the plot for this film and it was extremely engaging except it was very clear where the plot was heading but it was still satisfying seeing all the pieces connect. This movie also feels pretty serious up until the last 15 ish minutes and they just spam effects and make us try and feel as if The Gemini Killer is a bigger threat than he truly is, this film also doesn’t do an introduction to the priest and he kind of just comes to the hospital and they also don’t really expand on people in the story but to be fair its a horror movie. This film has some pretty cool shots and i really loved the part in the plot when they kept connecting things to the rose. The acting in this film is pretty mediocre besides for George C. Scott (Kinderman) and The Gemini Killer has some great monologues but his acting is not the best and falls in some areas, and this film doesn’t feel like a horror movie at all and leads heavy on a mystery movie and doesn’t bring any true horror besides for some kills except all except 1 happens on screen. But i’m excited to see the first Exorcist now especially since it is acclaimed to be one of the scariest movies of all time but WE all know its Hereditary.
