After watching the forgettable Netflix thriller Apex 2026, I was in the mood for an actual thrilling cat and mouse horror flick and this does the job well enough! It has plenty of intense moments and I could really feel the tension of her situation, I also love the simple setting of the gas station and the gnarly injury gore details, the fact that there's kills onscreen too atleast. But then comes the not so vague & corny dialogue/screenplay itself.....which just feels like a complete slap to the face cause the movie was doing so well up until the sniper starts yapping about political conspiracy stuff together with the main character's responses becoming more cringeworthy and twitter-esque as well. Where was the subtlety?!! Aside from the weak ass script, everything else was pretty solid and it's what I wanted from a very straightforward story like this...if only there was a different writer lmao but atleast the ending redeemed for some of it and I liked the violence.
(I might have to check Downrange out as well, who knew that where was a sniper horror sub genre!)
**Same director who did one of my favorite remakes of all time (Maniac 2012) which was surprising to know. :--0**
