“What’s the worst that could happen?”
Well.
Hold my Minute Maid.
This was my favorite movie as a kid and after rewatching it for the first time in over a decade, I completely understand why.
The opening still creeps me out. The humming. The kid casually having full conversations with absolutely nobody while everyone else goes about their day. And the hypnosis scene? Still fantastic. Something about it gets under my skin every single time.
Kevin Bacon is really good in this. What starts as curiosity slowly turns into obsession, and he completely sells that descent. By the end, he's chasing answers with a level of determination that's honestly a little concerning.
The atmosphere is probably my favorite part. Perfect for a dark, rainy night.
I’m still not entirely sure why orange juice was such a major character in this movie, but I respect it. I love orange juice too.
Kid me was onto something with this one.
