I honestly I think this is as great as Bourne Identity. You could definitely tell that Jackie Chan is improving as an dramatic actor especially where cries and yells but there are some good dramatic moments with him. I see too much influence from big action blockbusters in this which isn’t a strength. But I think the corrupted nature of the entire plot is what makes this great. You have cops that are ignorant and are deep down pretty broken. Then there are these kids who are criminals and their only purpose is to fuck with cops because they hate them. And it really shows how childlike they are which is a huge strength to show some character in these antagonists. But you have this grown man who seems to be more successful and has his life figured out by working for the law but he’s just as broken as them. Nicolas Tse plays a great supporting role and he isn’t complete comedic relief. There are obviously some visible flaws and good action sequences. The serious tone that this series took wasn’t a bad choice.
