This contradiction of creation is presented fantastically here as the artist chisels away at perfection and progress, the task wearing away at himself bit by bit for time is a limited resource and effort is draining even when it is effort at something you love. The varying line weight throughout the film exemplifies this shift of difficulty and weariness, contradicting one another as the task only gets easier for the artist to perfectas time goes on and they get more skilled but they themselves are unable to keep up. The roughness and the clarity of both subjects shift and swap as the film goes on, leaving us with a ideal form and raw material.
