❝Humankind dies one way, we another. Their end is final. Ours is not. In the earth, in rotting wood, in the eternal darkness, we will see and hear and feel.❞

This had a lot of potential, but it unfortunately fell a bit short in my opinion.
From the way the film set up the characters, I thought this would have some sci-fi elements where Sarah would actively be trying to help John, which would've been much more interesting than the typical vampire-seduction-romance that it ended up becoming. There was way too little Bowie, he had such a commanding screen presence but got nerfed so quickly and forgotten until the very end. Catherine Deneuve and Susan Sarandon were good, though very awkward at times which made them difficult to watch. The rest of cast were decent, but nothing to write home about. I did really like the cinematography and visuals; there was some gorgeous set designs and costumes, especially in the flashbacks (which I wish I got to see more of), and the soundtrack was beautiful.
The Hunger is definitely a very typical vampire film, and while I'm happy that I gave it a go, it's certainly not the best in its genre I've ever seen.
