Halloween H2O is honestly a pretty solid return for the franchise. The best part, without question, is having Jamie Lee Curtis back as Laurie Strode. She brings so much energy and emotion to the role, and it’s awesome seeing her face off with Michael again after all those years. I also really liked some of the fun touches this movie added, like that quick Scream 2 cameo—it’s a cool little nod to other slashers from that era. The story moves at a good pace too, and it feels nice and contained compared to some of the crazier sequels before it.
But wow, that Michael Myers mask is rough. Like, seriously—how is it this hard to get his look right? It changes multiple times throughout the movie, and some of the masks look flat-out awful. It kind of kills the creepy vibe whenever you notice it.
Even with that, though, H2O is still a fun time. It feels like a proper ‘90s horror movie while giving a bit of love to the classic Halloween roots. Jamie Lee Curtis really carries the whole thing, and she’s the reason this one stands out from some of the other sequels. It’s not perfect, but I think H2O is a decent watch.
