To paraphrase my friend, "I hate Quentin Tarantino even more now."> Closer to a 3.5.This is my first Bruce Lee vehicle, and what a way to start. The opening funeral scene is great at setting the tone through some exaggerated, yet emotionally impactful performances and cinematography. Lee was great in this (even if we watch the dub for shits and giggles). The movie blends action, wit, and quieter moments quite well, building to a fantastic ending that deviates from the typical action movie. The story isn't too complex, but the filmmaking, particularly shot composition, shadows, and color, make this movie pop. Chen is a fun character, and the world he inhabits is well-defined, particularly with consequences that affect the overall mood. I'm curious to watch more Bruce Lee movies now; definitely subtitled, though.
