I find it strangely beautiful how Huillet-Straub's cinema is both understated and monotonous, yet in its own way exaggerated and theatrical. It makes them perfect for Kafka's Interpretation. German literature also has this straightforward and clear writing style, which hides very subtle surrealism and dark irony. and their films are essentially visual representations of this. It didn't have the same impact on me as ‘Sicilia’, but I continue to think their style is my thing. I always know it when I find directors who are truly close to me. you know, It’s rare, but it happens. In this case, I already know that I should view their whole filmography after seeing two.
