If I had a Nickel everytime a Connor Storrie Character made out with an closeted gay athlet, i would have two. Wich isn‘t alot but its weird that it happend twice.
I obvi come straight from the Cottage and found myself again in a beautiful story told bout queer people existing in a space that is not welcoming them.
In the World of football, homophobia is sadly normalized (slurs in the lockerroom etc.) and also internalized homophobia (wich i see in the main chatacter (mc)). the way that he didnt defend liam from the homophobic comments and the way that the mc doesnt percieve himself as perfect bc hes gay made me so sad and is sadly real.
loved the details of the cinematography (the fairground scene is visually stuck in my mind for a reason), and also that they cut the scene in wich the mc tries to hook up with this man (ig it symbolizes the mc‘s internal journey in the movie) and the acting by all of the cast.
didnt like the ending (nit just i was distracted by the horrible eye makeup in the mc‘s „coming out scene“) , it felt like i ( and also the mc) were not suffocating, but not really breathing either. i mean that the mc could not say that he was gay, just „not straight“,even in the end is not the ending i hoped for but probably the ending they aimed for.
