been on a bit of a classic Mexican cinema binge lately but really hope there’s more initiative in restoring classic Mexican films, criterion or otherwise (although criterion did a wonderful job with this restoration).

Ninón Sevilla is a force, the musical sequences are stellar and the end really just made me want to go hug my mom. great watch.

A gripping, powerful, transfixing and criminally underrated melodrama that’s a must watch. Everything is done so well ughhhh I love it so much. That dance scene in La Maquina Loca with Violeta and the musician was so beautiful oh my god!! I don’t even really have much to say, I’m pretty much mind blown, it’s just so fucking brilliant. It’s so so brilliant. And Ninon Sevilla!!! Omfg!!! I lowkey had to research and see if she dabbled in bisexuality at least but WOW she’s insanely beautiful and her performance is absolutely phenomenal. Thank you for gracing my screen queen

“Six years”
Feels like there’s magic dust sprinkled all over this. The shot of the train from atop the bridge is one of the most breathtaking images I’ve ever seen.
