After making what is for me one of the best Argentine films (Waiting for the Hearse), Alejandro Doria makes another adaptation of a grotesque, very popular play. Furthermore, the similarities do not end there, since he turns the focus back to the middle class, and to something that disturbs their false tranquility. In this case, instead of focusing on the elderly, he focuses on youth, although not without leaving aside middle age, which is the focus of his criticism, the hypocrisy of a marriage that has stayed together only for appearances and to maintain the little they have.

Doria shows us with an eye that is too grotesque to be clinical, how parents are capable of anything to try to prevent their daughter from having a child as a single woman, so much so that they even agree on a price for her to have an abortion and become the lover of a man much older than her.

What fails here is that the story becomes a grotesque of the grotesque, too many screams, not the situations are too ridiculous, but the way the characters approach it, everyone is constantly upset, and although it is understandable that finding out that their only daughter, whom they still see as a girl, gets pregnant is something overwhelming, but the mistake is that they take that excess too far, and it ends up losing its meaning and intensity.

I don't hate it that much, although it is only enjoyable for those who like Argentine humor with a costumbrist tone, otherwise it is better to ignore it
