It omits so much that in the end, if you haven't read the book, it has nothing special or memorable about it, and if you have read the book, it adds nothing. it's like a soft version of the original story.
It has some decent moments, but it really lacks impact, and the ending is quite disappointing after reading the book's ending.
It doesn't feel like a cruel and dark critique at all.
Even so I didn't find it boring, but I don't think it's good either.
The book is something everyone should read, the movie is something anyone could ignore.

Changing the ending defeats the whole purpose of the book. I think it's important to deliver these types of messages in a way that's easily digestible but it is a shame the film altered so much.

As someone who hasn’t read the book I still think it would’ve been better if they ended where the book ended, but it still works.
